Washington, DC designer Dana Ayanna Greaves produces a collection of apparel and accessories with the goal of dressing women that she defines as a 'Bohemian Boss.' These women are fearless, accomplished, and culturally curious. Dana draws influence from design elements found in China, western and southern Africa, and the Caribbean resulting in a modern aesthetic that is peppered with print, texture, and multicultural notes.

Her education in design began with a foundation in visual arts. She explored the mutable nature of identity and the transformative power of clothing while studying at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County where she received a self-designed Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Her craft was further strengthened during an apprenticeship at The Shakespeare Theater Costume - Crafts department. Since then, Dana taught jewelry workshops at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and launched her label ARTAYA (formerly Artistic AYA).

Known for her playful line of handmade paper jewelry, Dana appeals to risk-taking women who balance youthfulness with wisdom. Her line is loved by musicians like Erykah Badu and sells to an international clientele.

Dana is a recipient of the Eleni Epstein award from the Fashion Group International and has appeared on The Today Show for her innovative business ideas. She was recently named one of “the District’s most promising design talents” on the cover of The Washington Post Magazine. Her collection was labeled “Best of the City 2011” in Modern Luxury magazine and her work has been featured in national publications like Jet, Travel and Leisure, and Lucky.
